Robert Brennan
Co-Chairman of the Board, Greenbacker Group LLC

Rob co-chairs the Board and provides the firm with strategic advice, capital markets oversight and institutional investment analysis. He is also a member of the Greenbacker Capital Management Investment Committee. He joined the company in 2017 and prior to this, was a Senior Managing Director and Head of Guggenheim Partners Real Estate Finance Group where over the last seven years, he built a national commercial mortgage loan origination servicing and asset management business responsible for nearly $10 billion of loans for client investment portfolios. He was also an Executive Member and Co-Founder of Pillar Financial, a full service real estate platform that was sold to SunTrust in 2016. From 2000 to 2010 he served as the the Global Head of Credit Suisse’s Real Estate Finance and Securitization Group a leading market participant in the industry. Prior to Credit Suisse, Rob was a Managing Director and Head of the Commercial Mortgage Group at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette (acquired by Credit Suisse in 2000).  He  previously worked at UBS Securities, L.F. Rothschild and began his career in 1983 at E.F. Hutton. Rob graduated from the University of Vermont and received his M.B.A. from NYU’s Stern School of Business.

Ron Iervolino
Co-Chairman of the Board, Greenbacker Group LLC

Ron co-chairs the Board, assists in both retail and institutional fundraising and drives strategic growth and development of the firm. He joined the company in 2016 and prior to this, was a Senior Managing Director at Guggenheim Partners where for over ten years, he ran the Fixed Income Division and worked on asset-backed securities, mortgage backed securities, commercial real estate, corporate credit, high-yield credit, leveraged loans, investment-grade loans, municipal bonds and public finance as well as structured finance origination and distribution. Ron was also a Managing Director for five years at First Albany where he managed fixed income sales and trading. Prior to this, he spent five years as a Principal at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette (acquired by Credit Suisse in 2000) where he managed the proprietary origination business of the firm. Ron graduated with a Bachelors in Economics from St. Francis College.

Charles Wheeler
Co-CEO, Greenbacker Group LLC, President of Greenbacker Capital Management, and CEO / President of Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company LLC

Charles leads the investment team at Greenbacker, serving as Co-CEO of Greenbacker Group, President of Greenbacker Capital Management, Member of the Greenbacker Capital Management Investment Committee and Director, CEO and President of Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company. He joined the company in 2011 and prior to this, has held various senior positions in his 24-year career with Macquarie Group, including Head of Financial Products for North America and Head of Renewables for North America. While serving as Head of Renewables for North America, his experience included evaluating wind project developers and solar asset acquisitions and assisting in the development of wind and solar greenfield projects and the preparation of investment analyses for a biomass facility. Before moving to the United States, Charles was a Director of the Financial Products Group in Australia with responsibility for the development, distribution and ongoing management of a wide variety of retail financial products, including Real Estate Investment Trusts (“REITs”), infrastructure bonds, international investment trusts and diversified domestic investment trusts. Charles graduated from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Economics and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia.

David Sher
Co-CEO, Greenbacker Group LLC and Director, Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company LLC

David leads and manages all the marketing, sales and business development efforts of the firm along with being a member of the Greenbacker Capital Management Investment Committee. He joined the company in 2011 and prior to this, was a senior adviser at Prospect Capital Corporation, a mezzanine debt and private equity firm that manages a publicly traded, closed-end, dividend-focused business development company. He has been a serial entrepreneur in the financial services and brokerage industry, having co-founded ESP Technologies, a leading provider of financial software and services to institutional asset managers and hedge funds, ElephantX dot com, an online brokerage company, and Lafayette Capital Management, a statistical arbitrage hedge fund. Before that, he spent six years at Bear Sterns where he developed trading ideas and strategies for institutional and brokerage correspondent clearing customers. David graduated from Rutgers University with a B.A. in Political Science and received his Masters of International Affairs from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.

Richard Butt
Chief Financial Officer, Greenbacker Group LLC and Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company LLC

Richard leads finance, legal and operations within the firm and also serves as the Chief Compliance Officer of Greenbacker Capital Management. He joined the company in 2013 and prior to this, was the President and Chief Executive Officer of P3 Global Management, a firm focused on investing in municipal infrastructure assets. He has also served as the President of Macquarie Capital Investment Management, with offices in New York and Sydney, Australia, where he was responsible for administration, operations, finance, compliance, treasury, marketing, business operations and FX/cash management for portfolios domiciled in North America, Australia, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean. In addition, Richard was the Chief Financial and Accounting Officer for Macquarie Global Infrastructure Fund, a New York Stock Exchange listed closed end fund (NYSE: MGU). Prior to joining Macquarie, he was the President of Refco Alternative Investments and Refco Fund Holdings, the commodity pool businesses associated with Refco, for three years where he was responsible for the initial development and ongoing operations of numerous public and private commodity pools. Richard graduated from Duke University with a Bachelors in Management Science and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Spencer Mash
Managing Director, Greenbacker Capital Management

Spencer leads transactions and acquisitions at Greenbacker and is involved in refinancing, structuring and due diligence of portfolios. He joined the company in 2011 and prior to this, was an Investment Analyst at Gandhara Capital, a long / short hedge fund investing in global large cap public equity, and spent three years in the Leveraged Finance Group at Deerfield Capital Management where he performed in-depth due diligence and financial analyses, negotiated loan documentation and monitored over 20 private middle market first lien, second lien, mezzanine and one-stop senior secured debt investments. Spencer began his career at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and graduated magna cum laude from The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business with a B.S. in Economics and a concentration in Finance and Marketing.

Mehul Mehta
Principal and Head of Origination, Greenbacker Capital Management

Mehul leads all origination efforts and is responsible for analyzing all potential asset acquisitions. He joined the company in 2016 and prior to this, was an Associate in the Global Renewable Power team within BlackRock’s Infrastructure Investments Group for two years where he helped structure and execute investments in the North American renewable power space. He previously worked at UBS in Equity Research covering alternative energy and semiconductor capital equipment companies and also worked with the COO of Recurrent Energy, a leading solar developer, for three years where he helped oversee development, construction and operations of solar assets and helped analyze deals for bidding and executing Power Purchase Agreements. Mehul began his career as a power and natural gas options trader at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, graduated from NYU with a B.A. in Mathematics and Economics and received his M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management.
